| Cat Description |
| Chicchi (pron. Kiki) |
|
| Chicchi is the matriarch of our cat sanctuary,
now over 14 years old, she is the oldest of the
group. She has been an independent kitty all her
life. However things have changed dramatically
in the last few months: she has lost her long
time friend Cleo, who passed away at the age of
17. Chicchi has become since more vocal
literally asking for affection. She seems to be
trying to replace the tender moments that she
shared with Cleo (they often slept together and
they regularly groomed each other) with affection
from the humans. She “asks” to be combed and
brushed and “hugged”. She then starts purring
like a kitten. We feel very sorry for Chicchi’s
loss. Cats who live permanently in a “cat
community” often develop strong relationship with
one or more cats. It is very interesting to
observe. Every cat in a community will develop
special bonds for some cats and a dislike for
other cats.
Chicchi was bought at a pet store and the
original owner decided that he did not want her
and that is how Chicchi came to us 14 years ago.
She adjusted immediately and she felt at home
from the first instant. Chicchi has been a
healthy cat up to now, she just needs dentistry
every year since she is affected, as many older
cats by gingivitis, which we try to control with
vitamins and other holistic remedies.
